LoviSil® Technology
LoviSil® stands for liquid insulation. All LoviSil® cable joints are electrically insulated with liquid silicone. This insulation medium distinguishes itself from all shrinkage and push-up techniques by a number of unique properties.
The LoviSil® technology is universal, easy to install and offers the best protection. Not only has the joint proven itself for 30 years in existing networks worldwide. This technology is also able to cope with new developments such as grid reinforcement and sustainable energy.
The silicone remains liquid and therefore perfectly insulates all parts in the socket. The chance of partial discharges due to air entrapment is therefore minimal.
LoviSil® and moisture
In contact with water or damp air, LoviSil® forms an insulating silicone rubber. This creates a seal that prevents further moisture penetration.
LoviSil® and future networks
The patented, liquid LoviSil® insulation with minimum breakdown strength E = 21kV/mm (measured according to IEC 60156) guarantees perfect and long-lasting insulation of the cable connection, especially in modern MV distribution networks where multiple stress factors are present.
LoviSil® is a silicone-based insulation that is resistant to high temperatures and has the inherent ability to suppress partial discharges (e.g. corona). The low dissipation factor makes LoviSil® a perfect insulating agent for networks that are heavily contaminated with harmonics.
LoviSil® and PDs
Due to the similar permittivity of LoviSil and XLPE , there is no distortion of the electric field at the interface between XLPE and LoviSil. The boundary between XLPE and LoviSil is a physical interface (transition from one material to another).
For LoviSil® cable joints, this means that the field lines follow approximately the same direction because the permittivity (epsilon) of both materials is similar – the field refraction is minimized. Still, there is an interface because at a certain point one material ends and another begins. Electrically speaking, there is also the interface – small deviation in the permittivity values (the hyphenation, although minimal, is still present). The fact that there is no PD is related to the minimal interruption to the interface.
LoviSil® and paper insulated cables
LoviSil® has the same insulating function as the cable grease of paper cable. This excludes discharge marks due to dehydration of paper.
Logistics
LoviSil® joints are made up of modules. This makes the cable sleeve very flexible and universally applicable. LoviSil® offers a solution for almost every cable combination.

In addition, the modular system offers logistical advantages because it is not necessary to keep separate cable joints in stock for each cable combination.
