LoviSil® Straight Joints in large mining project in South Africa
In the east of South Africa, one of the largest mines, Zulti South Mineral Sands, is expanding. This coastal location places high demands on cable connections due to moist soil conditions. Challenge: humid and harsh conditions
The mine, started 40 years ago north of Richards Bay, stretches over a coastal strip of 17 km. Here one extracts minerals such as:
- Ilmenite (iron-titanium oxide) – used for titanium dioxide in alloys for watch cases and laptop cases
- Zirconium oxide – used in dentistry and ceramic knives
- Rutile – used in welding electrodes

Customization for 3-core XLPE applications
