In conversation with Equans about sustainable energy projects

In conversation with Ton Schaaper – Project supervisor at Equans

Ton Schaaper, project supervisor at Equans, shares his vision on sustainable projects and the role of reliable cable technology. “The customer always makes the choice: security or money,” says Ton. When making large investments, clients want to minimise risks and call on Equans’ technical expertise.

Sustainable projects require certainty

The construction of solar and wind farms is a long-term process. An example is Smart Grid Flevoland (SGF), part of the Regional Plan for Wind Energy in Flevoland. Here, old wind turbines are replaced by new ones with almost three times as much power. Various solar parks will also be connected to SGF’s distribution grid.

LoviSil cable joints – robust solution

Ton Schaaper has good experiences with LoviSil® cable joints: “In this project, we were free to choose cable accessories and then the LoviSil® joint still wins on quality and robustness. And the assembly, which is also very important in these kinds of projects, no mistakes are made with it.”

The assembly is simple and error-free, without unnecessary actions such as the use of a gas burner. This makes LoviSil® ideal for large-scale sustainable projects.

Cross-bonding for optimal performance

The first LoviSil® connection joints and cross-bonding joints were installed at SGF in 2022. This technology reduces equalization currents in earth screens, reduces cable losses and optimizes electricity distribution – crucial for long cable lengths in wind and solar farms.

Collaboration and culture

Ton appreciates the collaboration with Lovink Enertech: “You notice that people really go for collaboration, they are always available and the questions are answered quickly and well.”
A pleasant culture and technical expertise form the basis for successful sustainable projects.
