LoviSil® cable joint offers solution for energy supply gravel hole
For a gravel pit in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany), Lovink Enertech recently supplied LoviSil® cable joints for the power supply of a crawler excavator. This application has many challenges such as water pressure and machine movements. Thanks to their robust properties and waterproofness, LoviSil® cable joints perform optimally under these conditions.
Challenge: water pressure and movement
Gravel and sand extraction involves a lot of water and excavation installations cause constant movements in the cables. The cable joints therefore had to meet high electrical and mechanical requirements. LoviSil® technology scored best on waterproofing and strain relief.
Small squares, big performance
Part of the old cable was replaced. It concerned a connection of 10 kV 3×35 mm² cable to 3×25 mm² crane cable for the excavator. These small squares are no problem for the universal LoviSil® system, which offers a reliable solution.
Robust properties of LoviSil® cable joints
- Withstands 2 bar water pressure
- Shockproof for dynamic applications
- Optimal electrical insulation for long-term reliability
Challenging assembly, successfully executed
Our German partner ICP supervised the project. Beckmann of ICP says:
“A gravel pit is not a standard location for assembly. Using a special knife, a round file and a small flame, we removed the conductive layer and prepared the cables. Then we mounted the LoviSil® joints without any problems.”
