LoviSil® oil refill joint for replacing switching cabinets
Stadtwerke Dettelbach chose the LoviSil® oil refill joint to connect a new control cabinet to the existing 24 kV PILC grid. This innovative solution prevents paper lead cables from drying out and provides additional protection against water ingress.
Challenge: connecting the PILC grid without risk
With traditional transition joints, there is a risk that paper lead cables will dry out, as they are no longer fed with oil. The LoviSil® oil refill joint prevents this problem thanks to a clever construction:
- Special oil reservoir linked to the lead jackets
- Saddle on the cable for oil supply
- Additional tests carried out in Lovink’s test facilities for maximum certainty
Installation in challenging environment
For this project, Stadtwerke Dettelbach opted for an above-ground cabinet for the oil reservoir and a box for the transition joint. The reason? The installation is located near a river that regularly floods. Here another advantage of LoviSil® comes to the fore:
