LoviSil® connecting joints for solar farm Australia
The Bungala Solarfarm in South Australia is equipped with a large number of LoviSil® 33 kV connection joints. The choice of this solution was determined by the moist soil conditions and the need for termite resistance.
Australia’s largest solar farm
The solar park in Port Augusta, approximately 300 km north of Adelaide, will supply 570 GWh per year after completion. This makes it the largest solar park in Australia. The construction is 50% financed by the Italian energy company Enel. For the ‘Bungala Solar One plant’, LoviSil® connecting joints have been supplied, suitable for a capacity of more than 275 MW.
Why LoviSil® connectors offer reliability
The engineering firm chose LoviSil® based on a positive recommendation from a contractor who had previously successfully applied LoviSil® in a large wind turbine project.
- Liquid silicone insulation for optimal moisture protection
- Termite-resistant construction
- Suitable for load changes in renewable energy grids
- Possibility to connect 3-core 33 kV cables in one housing
Training and successful installation
Roberto Asperti of High Voltage Power Service, responsible for the assembly, was immediately convinced of the technology. After two days of training in the Netherlands, he installed and delivered the Krauts to his full satisfaction.
