LoviSil® Loop splice gains interest from Dutch grid operator

A large Dutch grid operator has approved the use of the LoviSil® loop splices for the temporary or permanent welding out of MV stations. Thanks to this solution, it is no longer necessary to bend cables back and mount an additional connection splice. Find out why this innovation saves time, costs and risks.

Direct benefits for grid operator

The grid operator immediately saw the advantages of the LoviSil® loop splice:

In the old situation, the MV ring remained interrupted for a longer period of time during the conversion of a station, which is undesirable. With the loop splice, the network remains operational. After conversion, the loop splice is removed and the station is reintegrated into the MV ring.

Maintenance of MV stations

Lovink supervised the initial installation and will soon introduce the LoviSil® loop splice at the network operator’s training centre. After that, the grid operator can use the loop splice independently for maintenance work.

Why choose the loop splice?

The LoviSil® loop joint is a branch splice with an end stop on the infeed side. Advantages:

  • No need to reroute cables
  • Single-sided mounting saves time
  • Less digging and no extra cable length required
  • No additional connecting sleeve required
