Reliability LoviSil® cable joints for renewable energy

One technology – endless possibilities

The farm currently supplies 30 MW and will grow to 120 MW in the coming years. In order to efficiently distribute the generated energy, one reliable technology was chosen: LoviSil® liquid silicone. This technique guarantees:

The selected cable joints

Feed-in joints

In this LoviSil® branch joint, the often smaller single-core cables can be connected directly from the sustainable source to the larger cables of the existing network. This was a connection from 630 mm2 to 1,200 mm2 with an operating voltage of 30 kV.

Straight joints

The dielectric constant of liquid silicone is almost equal to XLPE insulation, which provides a homogeneous electric field. Advantages:

  • Less sensitive to stress
  • Better resistance to harmonic effects
  • Longer component life

Cross-bonding joints

Finally, the LoviSil® family also offers a solution for reducing cable losses. The LoviSil® cross-bonding joint prevents equalization currents in the earth screens.
